AI for Online Sellers: Running Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop as a System
An AI system for multi-platform sellers: listings, images, customer chat, reviews, live scripts and double-day campaigns, plus cautions on food and health claims.
Imagine a chilli paste and souvenir shop from Phetchabun that sells on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop. The owner and two helpers answer chats in three apps, update stock in three places, go live in the evenings and prepare double-day promotions every month. When 11.11 arrives, hundreds of chats pile up and some customers order items that have already sold out. The problem for shops like this is not that they cannot sell; it is that the back office cannot keep up once they do.
What is AI for online sellers?
It means using AI as a "back-office team" that handles repetitive work for you, from writing listings and making images to answering common questions, reading reviews and preparing campaigns. Each platform also has its own AI tools that change quickly, so this article focuses on how to set up a system that works however the tools change. If you have not picked a platform yet, read Opening a shop on TikTok Shop, Shopee or Lazada: where to start first.
Six tasks AI can help with
1. Listings that get found and answer questions
Have AI draft product names and descriptions from real data: ingredients, size, storage and expiry, then adapt the style to each platform. On TikTok Shop, use short sentences that can be read within a video; on other marketplaces, focus on the details customers search for.
2. Product images
Use AI to remove backgrounds, fix lighting and create lifestyle scenes, but the product shown must match the real item exactly, including colour, size and quantity.
3. Customer chat across platforms
Collect frequent questions such as how spicy it is, how many days delivery takes or how long it keeps, and turn them into a knowledge base for AI to draft answers. Refunds, damaged goods or unhappy customers should be handed to a person immediately.
4. Turn reviews into insight
Have AI summarise reviews monthly to show what customers repeatedly praise and criticise, such as "the bottle leaked in transit" or "I'd like a small trial size", then use that to fix packaging or launch new products.
5. Live and short video scripts
Have AI draft a live-stream outline: open with the customer's problem, demonstrate the product, answer common questions, and close only with promotions that actually exist. The host then adapts it into their own words.
6. Double-day campaign plans
Feed historical sales and stock data to AI to help plan which items to promote, how much stock to prepare and which chat replies to prepare in advance. Stock calculations should be done in a spreadsheet you can check.
Hypothetical example: the chilli paste souvenir shop
The owner starts by creating one central product data file, then has AI generate each platform's listings from it. A chat knowledge base helps the helpers answer quickly and consistently. Reviews about leaking bottles lead to a new cap and extra bubble wrap. Before 12.12 the team prepares stock and customer replies in advance, which gives the owner time to talk with souvenir shops that want to stock the products.
AI can make your shop look more professional, but trust comes from telling the truth about your product.
Cautions
- Food advertising and health claims: section 40 of the Food Act B.E. 2522 (1979) prohibits false or deceptive advertising of a food's benefits, quality or properties, and section 41 requires the text, sound or images of commercial food advertising to be reviewed by the licensing authority beforehand, as Thai PBS reported from a Thai FDA warning (March 2024). Never let AI write health claims, and if unsure, check with the FDA or a legal advisor.
- Over-edited images: images AI has polished until they differ from the real product lead to returns and bad reviews.
- Platform policies: each platform has its own rules on content and chat replies, so check them before automating.
- Customer data: names, addresses and phone numbers from orders are personal data under PDPA. Do not paste them into general AI tools, and use them only for delivery or service customers expect.
- Tax and accounting: selling more means handling tax properly. Read Taxes online sellers need to know and consult an accountant when unsure.
