5 In-Demand Skills in Thailand's Job Market in 2026 and How to Start
Five skill groups that keep showing up in Thai job ads, from AI, data, marketing and cloud to critical thinking, with a step-by-step way to start.
Open today's job ads and compare them with ads for the same roles five years ago. You will see words like AI, data, dashboard or cloud in jobs that never mentioned them before, from Marketing Executive to HR Officer. The question is not whether the market is changing, but which skill you will catch up on first.
The WEF Future of Jobs Report 2025 says employers worldwide expect 39% of workers' core skills to change by 2030, and the fastest-growing skills are AI and big data, followed by networks and cybersecurity and technological literacy. This article picks five skill groups that match that direction and appear often in Thai job ads, with practical ways to start.
1. Using AI in real work, no data scientist title required
Most employers do not need everyone to build models. They want people who use AI to solve problems in their own job and know when not to trust it.
What this skill looks like at work
- Writing prompts with clear context, goal and output format
- Checking AI answers before using them, such as numbers and sources
- Knowing that customer or confidential data should not go into public tools
Example: an HR officer uses AI to draft a JD from meeting notes with the team lead, then edits it to fit company policy. It takes less time, but quality stays in human hands. Read more in What is Prompt Engineering.
2. Data analytics: read data, decide faster
Whether in retail, banking or manufacturing, finance, marketing and operations teams need people who can look at numbers and say what to do next. Common tools are advanced Excel, SQL, and Power BI or Tableau.
Where to start
- Practise Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP with your team's real sales data
- Ask a business question before opening the file, such as which branch is dropping and why
- Build a one-page dashboard your manager can open every week

3. Digital marketing and content with a strategy
AI helps produce content faster, but people who understand customers, set direction and measure results are still needed. Skills worth having in the Thai market:
- SEO and making content discoverable in AI search
- Social media strategy, especially TikTok and LINE OA
- Marketing automation with tools such as HubSpot, Mailchimp or n8n
- Short-form video that tells a complete story in 30 to 60 seconds
A common mistake is posting every day without ever checking which posts bring buyers or sign-ups. Set one or two metrics before you start.
4. Cloud and DevOps: the foundation of every system
Many Thai organisations are moving systems to AWS, Google Cloud or Azure, which makes skills like cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, Docker and Kubernetes in demand, especially for people already in IT, such as system admins or developers who want to move up.
A practical path: pick one cloud provider, learn the fundamentals well, deploy a small website of your own, then move on to certification. Details in Finding a job in Cloud and DevOps.
5. Communication and critical thinking
In the same WEF report, analytical thinking is the core skill companies cited most in 2025. The more repetitive work AI takes on, the more your ability to think, ask questions and get the team aligned sets you apart.
- Summarise a long issue into three lines your manager can decide on
- Separate facts from opinions before proposing a solution
- Work across teams without leaving tasks half-done
Tools change every year, but people who think clearly, communicate well and keep learning can always pick up the next tool.
Watch out for
- Do not learn everything at once. Pick one core skill and one supporting skill first.
- A certificate alone is not enough. Employers want to see work you have actually done.
- Global trend data may not match every industry in Thailand. Compare it with real job ads in your field.
