Thailand Marketing Trends 2026: 5 Directions Marketers Should Prepare For

Five directions marketers in Thailand should watch, plus what to practise and do in your team so you use them well instead of just chasing hype.

Every new year brings a dozen "marketing trends" articles, yet when it is time to plan, many marketing teams keep doing the same thing because they do not know what to change first. This article does not forecast numbers. It summarises directions that keep showing up in the Thai market and what marketers should practise to respond.

What Is a Marketing Trend, and How Should You Read One?

A meaningful trend is a shift in customer behaviour or ways of working that lasts long enough to require changing your team, not a new feature that comes and goes. A simple test: "If we do nothing about this this year, will customers find us harder to reach?" If yes, it belongs in the plan.

1. Short Video and Live Selling Remain Core Channels

Many Thai consumers discover products, watch reviews and buy through short videos and live selling on social platforms. For brands, that means content that answers real customer questions in the first few seconds, not TV ads cut down for social.

What to Practise

2. AI Is Part of the Content Workflow, but People Still Decide

Marketing teams increasingly use AI to draft captions, summarise customer comments or create multiple ad versions to test. What separates teams is who has a good brief, a clear brand voice, and fact-checks before publishing.

Watch Out

AI can produce false information, use wording that does not fit Thai culture, or make every brand sound the same. Do not put customers' personal data into tools your organisation has not approved, and have a person review every piece before it goes live.

3. First-Party Data and Consent Matter More

Data customers give a brand directly, such as LINE OA followers, email lists or purchase history, has become a key asset because it lets you reach customers without relying only on paid ads. In Thailand, collecting and using personal data falls under the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019), known as PDPA, so marketers need to understand consent and purpose-limited use. For legal details, consult your legal team or a PDPA specialist.

4. Smaller Creators and UGC Earn More Trust Than Direct Ads

Many customers trust people like themselves more than brands. Brands are working with creators who have focused audiences and reusing real customer reviews and content (always with permission). The challenge is choosing creators who match your audience and clearly telling viewers when content is sponsored.

5. Leadership Asks More About Results

With budgets under scrutiny, marketing teams must show how each campaign drives sales, new customers or repeat purchases, not just likes. Setting KPIs, reading dashboards and explaining results to executives matter as much as creativity.

If You Are Job Hunting in Marketing, What Should You Show?

Interviewers usually do not want to hear which trends you know. They want to see that you tried something and learned from it. Prepare one or two work samples that match these directions: a short video you made with its watch-through numbers, a small LINE OA plan that already considers consent, or a one-page campaign report explaining what the spend brought back. A small piece that shows your thinking clearly carries more weight than talking about broad trends in an interview.

Trends do not tell you to do everything. They tell you where you will fall behind if you change nothing.

How to Start in Your Team

  1. Pick the two directions out of five that are closest to your customers. Do not try them all at once.
  2. For each, set one small experiment you can finish in a month.
  3. Define the metric before you start, such as watch-through rate, new members or sales from that channel.
  4. Check personal data use and content permissions before launching a campaign.
  5. Write a short summary, then decide whether to scale, adjust or stop.
